Children, the Community and the Police.
AMV Playgrounds have received a wonderful thank you message from the LLansteffan Sports Club Ltd. On the completion of their MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) project.
The community of LLansteffan in Carmarthenshire, successfully applied for and received funding from money which had been recovered from criminals by the Police in their area.
The MUGA was installed on part of an existing tennis court and was sized to enable tennis nets to be utilised when appropriate.
The MUGA has been fitted with goal posts and football equipment along, with basketball rings and backboards, truly a multi use games area as the name MUGA suggests.
The gates and fencing have been erected such that adjoining tennis nets could be utilised free from any interference from football and basketball.
AMV’s playground designers, staff and site installation team were particularly thanked for their total commitment to the success of the playground and all the work was carried out with a smile.
Park Ping Pong Spins into Action.
March 13, 2010
AMV Playgrounds have been chosen by the English Table Tennis Association (E.T.T.A.) to participate in a “pilot project” to install outdoor table tennis tables in parks and open spaces in the London area.
The aim is to investigate and promote new participation opportunities in this accessible and enjoyable Olympic and Paralympics sport.
Diccon Gray (Delivery and Facilities Manager, E.T.T.A.) commented
“Tables will be available for the public to play free of charge, have some fun and get a chance to find out other places to continue to play”
Funded through Sport England and the E.T.T.A. the pilot will show the suitability of the AMV outdoor table tennis tables in terms of the suitability of surface, location, bat and ball provision and maybe even find solutions to overcome the great British weather.
Typical sites for AMV outdoor table tennis tables include waiting areas such as next to tennis courts, cafes and play areas, preferably all with good footfall.
Evaluation of usage, durability etc, will be carried out by personnel from the London boroughs, with a view to providing evidence of success of the activity to be able to make the case to roll out outdoor table tennis to other areas of England, including sites such as motorway services, pub gardens, sports clubs, hospital grounds, housing estates etc.
The AMV outdoor table tennis tables will be installed in the London boroughs of Greenwich, Hackney and Newham.
AMV Playgrounds redevlops playground at Lister Primary School in Manningham.
February 26, 2010
Lister Primary School’s project to create a community adventure playground has been boosted by a £20,000 grant from the Ward Investment Fund.
This latest funding – from the money generated by Bradford Council’s involvement in the sale of Leeds Bradford Airport – allows the Manningham school to fully realise its vision for the project which recently won £50,000 from a TV contest. Bradford viewers helped secure the money in the People’s Millions phone vote.
A barren site next to the school, near Lister’s Mill, is being redeveloped by AMV Playgrounds.
At the playground there will be: goal units, picnic tables, benches, trim trail, traverse wall, ballcatchers and play units.
Feasibility work has started and the project is due to be completed by the end of March.
Headteacher Moira Hunt said: “We are developing the whole of our outside play using this funding to provide a quieter area in one section as well as a more active section to improve pupils’ play experience.”
